Tiffin Charitable Youth Advisory Council


Tiffin Charitable Youth Advisory Council

In an effort to pass on the values of community service and local philanthropy, the Foundation Board has started a Youth Advisory Council.

The Youth Council meet once a month and learn about local charities, and other inter workings of the community.

They are lead by Mrs. Debbie Gerschutz, former Guidance Counselor at Tiffin Columbian High School, who kindly volunteers her time.

No Ice is Safe Ice Assembly

New Riegel School will host an assembly “No Ice is Safe Ice” on Tuesday, Feb. 7 in the afternoon.  It is a program to teach students about ice safety.  It will be presented by a Tiffin fireman.  There will be two sessions: Kindergarten to 3 and 4th to 6th grade.  Tentative times are 1:15 – 2:00 and 2:00  - 2:45 in the auditeria.  It is a 45 minute program.

Congratulations to 4th, 5th and 6th graders!

Positive behavior is being promoted in the 456 this semester through a weekly recognition program which will give teachers an opportunity to recognize positive behaviors and interactions here at school  

For the month of January, the weekly winners who got candy bars are:

4th grade:  Kaitlyn Kirian, Lindsay Orians, and Dalton Reinhart
5th grade: Casey Scheeter, Brian Ward, and Kirsten Stallard
6th grade: Danny Ink, Allan Acree, and Cate Frankart

Power of the Pen ~ regional qualifiers Kady and Elizabeth

Congratulations to Kady Elchert and Elizabeth Zoeller!

The Power of the Pen Regional Tournament will Wednesday, March 7, 2012 from 8:30-2:30 at Lourdes College in Toledo, OH.  7th grade student Kady Elchert qualified for this tournament and 8th grade student Elizabeth Zoeller qualified.

Academic Boosters Read A Thon is comming soon

Students in grades K-5 will be receiving their Read A Thon sponsorship packets next week at our assembly on reading.

Taylor Kirian wins State Americanism Test

New Riegel High School was notified on Tuesday that Taylor Kirian won the 10th grade girls State Championship in the Americanism Test!  Congratulations Taylor on this great achievement!  There will be a presentation in the library next Tuesday @ 2 p.m. from the Ohio American Legion commander.
